the DeKalb Middle School Lady Patriots soccer team opened their season against Norwell. A cold, windy night slowed the game down quite a bit but the Lady Patriots were able to get their first victory of the season by a score of 3-1. Norwell scored the games first goal early into the match to put the Lady Patriots on their heels. Soon after Baylee Honn scored on a free kick from 35 yards out to tie the game 1-1. Minutes later the Lady Patriots took the lead when Audrey Oswalt played a through ball to the streaking outside midfielder, Madysen Snyder. Snyder dribbled the ball into the box and placed the ball into the corner of the net for a 2-1 just before halftime.
The Lady Patriots third goal came with less than a minute left in the game when DeKalb's Kendyl Smith passed the ball to Alyssa Wells at the 18 yard box. Wells fired a shot far bar and that sealed the deal. Ashton Blaha and Erica Bolinger combined for win in net making 11 total saves. The Lady Patriots travel to Maple Creek in a NHMLC rematch from last season.
