On Tuesday the DeKalb Middle School Lady Patriots soccer team opened their season against Norwell. A cold, windy night slowed the game down quite a bit but the Lady Patriots were able to get their first victory of the season by a score of 3-1. Norwell scored the games first goal early into the match to put the Lady Patriots on their heels. Soon after Baylee Honn scored on a free kick from 35 yards out to tie the game 1-1. Minutes later the Lady Patriots took the lead when Audrey Oswalt played a through ball to the streaking outside midfielder, Madysen Snyder. Snyder dribbled the ball into the box and placed the ball into the corner of the net for a 2-1 just before halftime.

The Lady Patriots third goal came with less than a minute left in the game when DeKalb's Kendyl Smith passed the ball to Alyssa Wells at the 18 yard box. Wells fired a shot far bar and that sealed the deal. Ashton Blaha and Erica Bolinger combined for win in net making 11 total saves. The Lady Patriots travel to Maple Creek on Thursday in a NHMLC rematch from last season.
