Olweus Bully Prevention Program!

As many of you know, three years ago DeKalb Central initiated the Patriot Pride Olweus Bully Prevention program to create an awareness of the true definition of bullying and to help identify bully type behaviors here at school.  By definition, bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending him or herself.  In doing this, the Patriot Pride teacher and student committees have worked hard to provide teachers with weekly activities, to not only educate students about bullying  but to also provide them with the tools they need to appropriately deal with a bully-type situation.  We work hard to empower students to do the right thing and treat people right!  As in years past, if any staff member witnesses a student being mean or hurtful they take care of the situation on-the-spot and make phone calls home to both the offender and the victim.  Our main goal is to ensure that our students feel safe and welcome each morning when they walk through the doors at DeKalb Middle School!
