DeKalb Middle School’s eighth grade students participate in an annual Career Day. Students choose two career field of their interest, and attend a thirty minute presentation from local representatives currently working in that career field. The local presenters will educate the students on the necessary training, qualifications, earnings, nature of work, and other various aspects of their careers, as well as answer any questions they may have. Through this experience, eighth graders will gain insight into options available to them as they prepare for post secondary education and beyond. A list of the six available career pathway is as follows.
