Credit System

To provide an objective and consistent format for students, teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents to follow for student retention and promotion, DeKalb Middle School utilizes a credit system.  Students successfully passing one math and one language arts class each semester and five out of seven classes each nine weeks will be promoted.  (P.E./Health classes count as ½ point each).  Thus, the total number of credits needed is 20, but of those one math and one language arts class must be passed each semester.  Special education programs will be reviewed through a case conference process.  Students not meeting this expectation can earn additional credits by completing one of our remediation programs.
