2️⃣ 🇺🇸 Veterans Day at DMS: Wednesday, November 11

Our morning includes breakfast for our veterans and their families, the National Anthem sung by Midpoint, a guest speaker, a student poetry reading, and a special moment to read the names of and thank the veterans we are honoring. ❤️

After the program, students will make cards and write letters to veterans, and our 8th graders will get to visit with veterans in the Commons.

A special thank-you to Ms. Vose, Mrs. Cybulski, and our Student Council for organizing, and to our DMS cheer team for volunteering to help welcome our guests! 📣

❤️🤍💙 Veterans Day Dress-Up: Students are invited to wear red, white, and blue on Wednesday to honor our veterans!

We’re also looking for backstage crew members to help bring the show to life! 🎬

Auditions are at the end of the month. See the flyer below for audition dates and sign-up details.

5️⃣ 💛 No Complaining November: Week 1 Is in the Books!

DMS families, we made it through our first week of the Integrity Challenge! 🎉 Our students (and staff!) have been practicing the swap. When a complaint slips out, we follow it with something we’re grateful for or an idea to fix the problem. 🌟

This week’s at-home challenge: At dinner this weekend, have everyone share one thing from the week they’re grateful for and one complaint they turned into a plan. 🍽️ Remember: we will slip, and owning it and starting again IS the integrity part! 💪

Haven’t hung up your family poster yet? Print it here! We are DeKalb. 🔴⚫

❓ Questions to ask your student...

  1. What was the best part of the Book Fair? Did you get a new book? 📚
  2. Are you wearing red, white, and blue on Wednesday? Who is a veteran you’re thankful for? 🇺🇸
  3. How many complaints did you swap for gratitude this week? 😉
  4. Are you thinking about auditioning for Annie JR or joining the backstage crew? 🎭
  5. What’s one kind thing someone did for you at school this week? 💛
