Baron Bots is DeKalb Middle School’s competitive VEX IQ robotics team. Students meet after school 1–3 times per week to design, build, and program robots that compete in 2–3 competitions each year, with opportunities to advance to state and world championships. The Baron Bots are proud to be recognized as one of the top-performing teams in the region, having qualified for the Indiana State Competition multiple times and representing DMS with excellence.
VEX IQ is an exciting robotics platform that brings STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to life. Students collaborate to snap together VEX IQ parts and build robots that tackle open-ended challenges. Teams then compete in 60-second Teamwork Challenge matches, as well as optional Robot Skills and Programming Skills Challenges, putting their innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork to the test.
